4 Methods to Choose a Dog Collar

By Tom Clark

There are many different ways to choose a collar for your dog. I am just going to give you a few options on how to do so. I will list four ways here to be exact.

The first way I would suggest is to know the size of your dogs neck. You can find this out by simply taking a tape measure and measuring it. After you get this measurement you are now able to follow the guidelines that are sometimes on the package. You should be able to fit two fingers in between the collar and the dogs neck.

I would then tell you to find out exactly how much it is that your pet weighs. Most collar packages will tell you the weight range that it is meant for. You should be able tell how strong you will need the collar to be after this.

Third I would say pay attention to what the collar is made of. Leather collars can break if too much pressure is applied to them. This is something you always want to think about if your dog is not trained and like to pull you around. Another thing to consider about leather is that it often cracks when it gets washed or wet.

The last thing I would recommend is to figure out what you want the collar for. Decide if you are buying the collar for training reasons or just for simply walking the dog. Training collars take a bit more detail to choose than what I listed here in this article. It's always less complicated if its only for walking your dogs.

In general choosing a collar for your dog is really an easy task. As long as the collar fits and looks good on your dog everything will be fine. When you find a collar in the price range you want to pay go for it. - 29895
