Why Is Dogtraining So Helpful For Your Pet?

By Remco van Reenen

Dogs are much more than some nice beings that bring a smile on our face. They are individuals and have different personalities. Often their natural instincts are more powerful that we want, which leads to conflicts. Therefore we must understand their actions and then teach them to live in accordance with our demands. Understanding dog behavior is the most important part of dog training.

Training your dog is essential if you want him to be part of your family. The training process will make him feel free, as he will know what to expect from you. Start teaching your pet new commands in his first months of life.

Communicating with your dog is an essential part of training. Before training your pet, you must know exactly what dog training involve. Dogs use body language to communicate. This is why you must understand canine behavior bases; an untrained dog behaves like an uneducated child- a rebel who will not listen to anyone.

Start by learning more about your dog's gestures and behavior. When the dog holds his head high and his neck arched, it means that he wants to show his superiority. The leaning of a dog's head to the right or to the left expresses curiosity and interest. When he is obedient, he holds his head down.

If your dog holds his tail relaxed, it means that he feels comfortable. When his tail is hidden between his legs, he shows fear. If he's wagging his tail at a slow speed, the dog tries to understand you.

Depending on his level of attention, your dog holds his ears in different ways. For example, when his ears are backwards, he feels scared and insecure. When his ears are stiff, the dog is extremely attentive.

Pets begin to socialize from their first days of life. It is recommended for a pet to spend at least 8 weeks with his mother, in order to learn what obedience is. But once he is adopted by a human family, the socialization process must continue. Expose the pet gradually to external stimuli. Help him get used with all family members. Allow your puppy to interact with children and mature dogs. Socializing will be more intense if you begin to walk the dog in the park where he has the possibility to interact with people and new situations.

As you see, there are many factors that have a key role in dog training. What matters the most is to treat your dog as an equal, without underestimating his ability to understand you. It's very important to reward him every time he does something good; if he refuses to obey, don't give him any incentives. - 29895
